Industry News: Firestorm and HP Partner on Deployable 3D Printing Solutions

Firestorm Labs has announced an exclusive collaboration with HP to bring HP’s Multi Jet Fusion technology into Firestorm’s mobile manufacturing platform, deployable 3D Printing. The agreement gives Firestorm distribution rights for HP’s MJF printers in mobile and field-deployable environments, and pairs HP’s industrial printing ecosystem with Firestorm’s expeditionary manufacturing systems.

At the centre of Firestorm’s offering is the xCell system, a scalable manufacturing setup built into two expandable 20 foot containers. The system is designed to run from generators, battery backup or traditional power, which makes it suitable for remote locations such as forward operating bases and disaster zones. With HP technology integrated, xCell can produce mission critical components and unmanned aerial systems on site, reducing lead times and logistical burden.

Firestorm frames the partnership as a step toward a distributed, resilient production network where regional and local supply chains can be leveraged to adapt to shortages and deliver parts more quickly. HP emphasises that the collaboration aims to support first responders, aid organisations and military units by enabling on-demand manufacturing at the point of need.

The announcement also highlights workforce and capability development. Firestorm says the expanded system will create roles in operations, maintenance and field deployment, and that the collaboration will focus on developing new materials and increasing throughput.
