The Additive Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (AMCRC) is a collaborative research initiative that brings together industry partners, research institutions, and government agencies to advance the development and adoption of additive manufacturing technologies in Australia. The centre focuses on conducting cutting-edge research, developing innovative solutions, and providing industry support to drive the growth and competitiveness of the additive manufacturing sector.

Additive Manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is a transformative technology that enables the production of complex and customized objects by adding material layer by layer. It has revolutionised various industries such as aerospace, automotive, healthcare, and consumer goods by offering unprecedented design freedom, reduced costs, and improved efficiency.
Additive Manufacturing can help the Australian manufacturing industry to become globally competitive and sustainable.

Additive Manufacturing enables a cost-efficient, high-value, complex, and customised production in Australia and enables the urgent transition towards sustainable, carbon-friendly, and circular manufacturing for the global supply chain and target export markets. 3D Printing supports sustainability by creating more sustainable products due to weight reduction and functional integration in parts with complex geometries as well as using new bio-based and recycled materials, and renewable energy for innovative zero-waste and zero-emissions AM processes.

The primary objective of the AMCRC is to foster collaboration between industry and academia to address key challenges in additive manufacturing. By bringing together leading experts from different disciplines, the centre aims to accelerate research and development efforts, facilitate knowledge transfer, and promote technology adoption across various sectors.

The AMCRC focuses on several key research areas, including materials development, process optimization, design for additive manufacturing, post-processing techniques, quality assurance, and standards development. Through its research projects, the centre aims to enhance the understanding of additive manufacturing processes, improve material properties, develop new applications, and optimize production workflows.

In addition to research activities, the AMCRC also provides valuable industry support services such as technical consulting, training programs, access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and assistance with technology adoption. These initiatives help businesses navigate the complexities of additive manufacturing and leverage its potential for innovation and growth.

By fostering collaboration between industry partners and research institutions, the AMCRC plays a crucial role in driving technological advancements in 3D Printing, promoting knowledge exchange, and supporting the growth of the Australian Additive Manufacturing industry.
