Markforged Arrives at Formero

Formero is extremely excited to announce the arrival of new technology at our Additive Manufacturing facility in Nunawading, VIC.
Markforged has arrived at Formero with the FX20, Markforged’s biggest, fastest & smartest printer. This new Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) technology allows Formero to deliver parts with maximum strength, accuracy, and consistency for the most demanding applications, from aerospace, automotive and defence. This technology can replace long lead-time metals with high-temperature thermoplastics and continuous fibre-reinforced composites.
At launch, Formero will be able to print parts using Onyx, Onyx FR, and ULTEM, as well as being able to print in Continuous Fibre Reinforcement (CFR) mode – a unique process that reinforces FDM parts with high-strength continuous fibres such as Carbon Fibre, Kevlar, and Fiberglass. A CFR-capable machine uses two extrusion systems: one that extrudes Composite Base material in a standard FDM process, and a second for long-strand continuous fibres that are laid down in-layer.
Continuous Fibres are laid down on the inside of parts through a second fibre nozzle. They cannot be printed by themselves – instead, they are used to reinforce parts printed out of a composite base material like Onyx.
