MJF 3D Printing Service
Manufacturing of High-Performance End-Use Parts Using 3D Printing
MJF 3D Printing is an industrial 3D printing process used for the rapid manufacture of prototypes, and quality production parts. The end-use parts exhibit isotropic properties in all axes, which translates to consistent mechanical properties throughout the part. This results in as printed parts that require little post-processing, and parts exhibit many properties including vibration dampening, durability and water-tightness.
An MJF part is comparable to parts created by injection moulding and is stronger than components created by fused deposition modelling, which is why MJF 3D Printing technology is an ideal solution for functional parts in many industries.
Multiple build platforms and ISO-certified processes enable Formero’s MJF printers to run around the clock, 7 days a week. Whether it is one part or one hundred, MJF and Formero enable the production of end-use custom parts in your hands in as little as 2 days.
How does MJF 3D Printing work?
An MJF printer uses an inkjet array to selectively apply both fusing and detailing agents across a bed of nylon powder. After that, heating elements fuse each layer into a solid, layer by layer until the parts are complete. Completed builds are then moved from the printer to a processing station to be cooled, recycling the loose powder for the next build. De-powdered parts are bead blasted to remove residual powder before post-finishing to customer specifications.

Why Use MJF 3D Printing?
Choosing MJF for your 3D Printing service offers significant advantages, including rapid production and high precision. MJF’s use of simultaneous jetting and fusing accelerates the manufacturing process, making it ideal for quick iterations and large volume production. Parts produced with MJF exhibit uniform strength in all directions and excellent surface quality, requiring minimal finishing.
MJF also allows for greater design flexibility without the constraints of traditional manufacturing. This adaptability makes MJF suitable for a wide range of applications. At Formero, our MJF 3D Printing service provides a fast, cost-effective solution for creating robust, detailed parts tailored to your specific needs.
Materials Available.
PA 12
A durable, isotropic nylon for functional prototypes and production grade parts.
MJF PA 12 produces parts with consistent mechanical properties in every direction, unlike many additive processes where strength varies by print orientation. This makes it comparable to injection moulded components and stronger than parts built with fused deposition modelling, which is why it’s a reliable choice for functional parts across a wide range of industries.
Parts come off the printer requiring minimal post processing and exhibit strong vibration dampening, durability and water resistance, making PA 12 suitable for both rapid prototyping and low to mid volume production runs.

TPU
A rubber like elastomer built for shock absorption, flexibility and long term fatigue resistance.
TPU is a flexible thermoplastic polyurethane powder that produces rubber like parts straight off the printer, with strong rebound resilience and the ability to flex repeatedly without cracking or splitting. Its aliphatic chemistry gives it good resistance to yellowing and degradation from UV exposure, and it holds up well against fuels, oils and common industrial chemicals.
With the right wall thickness, TPU parts can achieve air and water tightness without additional sealing, and the material has passed independent skin contact testing for irritation and sensitisation, making it a suitable choice for parts that sit against the body.
Applications
- Wearable devices and skin contact components
- Seals, gaskets and grommets for fluid and air tight applications
- Footwear midsoles, insoles and cushioning
- Automotive interior components such as seat elements and grips
- Industrial seals and vibration dampening mounts
- Sports and protective equipment, including padding and grips
- Soft touch robotic grippers and end effectors
Benefits
- Rubber like flexibility with strong rebound resilience
- Withstands repeated flexing without cracking
- Resistant to fuels, oils and industrial chemicals
- Can achieve air and water tightness at appropriate wall thickness

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Multi Jet Fusion presents notable advantages in terms of speed and precision, positioning it as an excellent choice for swiftly generating functional prototypes and final end-use production quality parts. This technology additionally enables meticulous manipulation of material attributes and delivers a superior surface finish.
Yes, Multi Jet Fusion excels in handling complex and intricate geometries, offering remarkable accuracy and resolution. This commendable capability positions it as a prime option for crafting parts characterised by intricate details and fine features.
Multi Jet Fusion serves a diverse range of industries including automotive, aerospace, medical, consumer goods, robotics, UAV drones, and beyond. Its proficiency in efficiently generating functional, ready-to-use parts renders it highly beneficial across a spectrum of sectors.
Multi Jet Fusion distinguishes itself by its capacity to manufacture parts with isotropic properties, maintaining consistency across all directions. This distinctive feature sets it apart from certain other methods and renders it particularly suitable for specific functional applications.
Multi Jet Fusion parts usually undergo post-processing steps like cleaning, bead blasting, dyeing, or surface finishing. These steps are employed to fulfil specific aesthetic or functional prerequisites. The necessity for post-processing is contingent upon the intended application of the part. Unprocessed Multi Jet Fusion parts exhibit a grey hue due to the utilisation of black ink and white powder in their creation. For this reason, Formero dyes all parts black to impart a striking visual appeal.
